Generated files are lists (such as a table of ] Ucontents, list of figures, or list of tables) or indexes that FrameMaker can "generate from a document or book. "Help on generated files and books QFor information on generated files and books, click an item in the topic list to )the right or click an active area below. VThe Generate/Book dialog box contains controls for generating files for a 0single document and for generating a book file. TThe window is where you work with the documents in a book. You use @ Ebook window commands to add, rearrange, set up, generate, and update Ifiles in the book. You can also use book window commands to open, print, (save, and format the files in the book. TThe Set Up dialog boxes contain controls for specifying the contents of Egenerated files and the pagination and numbering of files in a book. WThe Generate/Update Book dialog box contains controls for generating files bo 4in a book and for updating the documents in a book. File menu > Generate/Book (with a document window active) Dialog box where you generate lists (such as a table of contents or list of ge Lfigures) and indexes for a single document. You also use this dialog box to t Jgenerate a book file from one of the documents you want to include in the book. NIf you plan to use the books and generated files on another platform, specify Vthe platform in the ross-Platform pop-up menu in Preferences dialog box. LThis ensures that the generated files are named correctly for the platform. You can select the Bfile in the scroll list Moree Add File Before/ Add File After 5Specifies where the file belongs in the book. In the r ?scroll list, select the file that will be adjacent to the file 4you are adding. Then use the pop-up menu to specify me 5whether the new file should be added before or after e the selected file. Add All Listed Files to Book ;Adds all the files in the Document File scroll list to the 5book. To rearrange or delete files after adding them @to the book, use Rearrange Files on the File menu. Generated files are initially unstructured, but you can use the command to Madd structure to them. They will lose their structure when you generate them e again. If the document from which you generate the book is structured, FrameMaker Fcopies the document s element definitions into the book and creates a :structured book. Otherwise, the book is unstructured. To add structure to an unstructured book, you can use the Import Element LDefinitions command to update the book and the files in it with element Udefinitions from another document.
